Hochschule Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts
With the DAAD-funded project “Digital Mobil @ FH Bielefeld” (2019-2022), Hochschule Bielefeld – University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSBI) – then FH Bielefeld – was pursuing the goal of enabling students to gain international experience, regardless of whether or not a stay abroad was an integral part of their degree programme. For this purpose, the cross-cutting issues of internationalisation and digitalisation were systematically combined. Thereby, students got opportunities to actively acquire intercultural, interdisciplinary, digital and foreign language skills for a later working life.
“Digital Mobil” comprised four sub-projects with different priorities:
Sub-project 1 focused on curricula and study programmes. Together with partner universities, Digital Mobil worked on creating an additional double-degree programme and joint interdisciplinary project modules, so that students could gather experience in digitally supported cooperation.
Sub-project 2 concentrated on sharing and generating digital and international teaching content with the partners, thereby creating a Community of Practice not only with each other but also with other interested universities. To do so, Digital Mobil undertook to create Open Educational Resources (OER).
Sub-project 3 had a technical focus on infrastructure for transnational teaching. It addressed options for linking learning management systems and reducing technical obstacles for transnational student collaboration.
Finally, sub-project 4 aimed to establish a student administration according to the Student Journey. Digital Mobil identified and made necessary adjustments to administrative processes to simplify recognition of study achievements in the context of transnational studies, thereby facilitating student mobility.
In developing and implementing “Digital Mobil”, HSBI relied on long-standing partner universities. Measures were designed and implemented in close cooperation.
