abstract = {Edge-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) acceleration has recently improved progress in real-time object detection. Object detection on edge devices requires a balance between accuracy, speed, and power efficiency. This paper proposes a customized Deep Learning Processor Unit (DPU)-aware architecture for attention-based YOLO variants deployed on AMD FPGAs. Specifically, we evaluate and benchmark YOLOv26 and YOLOv11, two modern attention-based YOLO variants, on the Xilinx ZCU104 across both standard and oriented object detection tasks. We replace unsupported activation functions, substitute split operations with 1x1 convolutions, and approximate the spatial attention mechanism in a DPU-compatible way. All models are then trained and evaluated across six benchmark datasets such as COCO, Pascal VOC, KITTI, DOTA, DIOR-R, and an in-house human presence dataset, and benchmarked across all eight DPU configurations (B512 to B4096) in terms of mAP, FPS, latency, power, and resource utilization. Notably, YOLOv26n and YOLOv26n-OBB deliver the highest end-to-end throughput at 34.05 and 29.55 FPS for standard and oriented detection, respectively, with an average of 5% absolute reduction in accuracy due to quantization while achieving up to approximately 3x lower power consumption compared with the state of the art.},

abstract = { This tutorial provides a comprehensive and intuitive journey through the evolution of deep generative models, tracing a clear path from the foundations of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to modern Variational Autoencoders (VAEs), showing how each method solves the limitations of the previous one. We begin with PCA, a linear tool for reducing data dimensions. Its inability to model non-linear patterns motivates the use of Autoencoders (AEs), which use neural networks to learn flexible, compressed representations. However, AEs lack a probabilistic framework, preventing them from generating new data. VAEs address this by treating the latent space as a probability distribution, enabling data generation. We compare the three methods through theoretical analysis, experiments, and step-by-step numerical examples that show exactly how each model compresses data—a detail often missing elsewhere. Unlike resources that treat these topics separately, we connect them into a single narrative, building intuition progressively from linear to probabilistic deep generative models.

Directly simulating experimentally identical samples—using atomistic and continuum models—is a critical yet largely unrealized step toward predictive, microstructure‑aware materials discovery. In this work, we introduce MultiBEST, a unified GUI‑based framework that constructs experimentally faithful atomistic and continuum models directly from 2D micrographs, EBSD data, or simple user sketches. The resulting continuum representations explicitly resolve grain boundaries as crystallography‑aware volumetric interfaces with distinct properties, enabling multiscale modelling that approaches atomistic‑level fidelity. MultiBEST delivers an end‑to‑end pipeline—from image processing to final model export—with tunable computational cost, from rapid prototyping to large‑scale simulations.},

abstract = {Material discovery using traditional experimental methods is a slow and costly process, often limited by the sampling process, characterization condition constraints, and the requirement for expensive equipment. While computational tools have transformed materials research by accelerating the investigation of material properties, a significant gap remains in connecting high-fidelity simulations with established experimental characterization techniques. Virtual Characterization Lab (VCL), a unified, open-source toolkit designed to bridge this gap. The VCL streamlines pre- and post-processing workflows—primarily designed for, but not limited to, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. It enables researchers to analyze crystallography and generate essential characterization data, including X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Selected Area Electron Diffraction (SAED), Vibrational Density of States (VDOS), and Infrared (IR) spectra, all within a single, intuitive graphical user interface (GUI). By integrating every step from initial structure preparation to final data visualization, the VCL accelerates materials discovery by making virtual characterization more efficient, accessible, and directly comparable to experimental results.},

However, there is no basis for assessing c-Si photovoltaic modules in the context of REpair, REfurbish, and REmanufacture. The aim of this study is therefore to create an assessment basis including a definition framework and a selection of priority parts. The results are a basic functional and structural analysis, an initial catalog of criteria for a semi-quantitative assessment method, and a weighting of priority parts. It becomes clear that individual cells and connection components are particularly relevant for REpair and REfurbish. For REmanufacture, attention should be paid to the entirety of the cells, the frame, and the glass. Overall, a method is created that, in application, lays the foundation for a sustainable product design of photovoltaic modules improved for the circular economy and can be further optimized. },

abstract = {Die Entwicklung und Implementierung von Circular-Economy-Prozessen (CE) in Unternehmen
CE-Studiengangs.},
