DCMA-ES is a CMA-ES variant enhanced by the powerful concept of directed mutation. So far, DCMA-ES has already proven to outperform the classical CMA-ES for several test functions. Hence, the target is now to benefit from the strength of this approach also in real-world scenarios, as for example in optimizing screw-type machines. The paper is organized as follows: first we outline the DCMA-ES and the functioning of the screw-type machine. Then the performance of DCMA-ES on some test functions is presented as motivation for the porting whose current status is discussed. In the final section, conclusions are provided and the future work is sketched.","lang":"eng"}],"corporate_editor":["IEEE"],"date_created":"2025-03-18T09:22:43Z","publication_status":"published","doi":"10.1109/ICSMC.2006.385125","user_id":"220548","status":"public","publication_identifier":{"isbn":["1-4244-0099-6","1-4244-0100-3"]},"type":"conference","author":[{"first_name":"Stefan","orcid_put_code_url":"https://api.orcid.org/v2.0/0009-0007-3242-4501/work/180308251","last_name":"Berlik","id":"237529","full_name":"Berlik, Stefan","orcid":"0009-0007-3242-4501"},{"last_name":"Fathi","first_name":"Madjid","full_name":"Fathi, Madjid"},{"full_name":"Holland, Alexander","first_name":"Alexander","last_name":"Holland"}],"date_updated":"2025-03-20T13:02:42Z","conference":{"end_date":"2006-10-11","name":"2006 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics","location":"Taipei, Taiwan","start_date":"2006-10-08"},"year":"2006","publication":"2006 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics","publisher":"IEEE","page":"5147-5151"}
