4 ILIAS objects and higher-level functions

4.1 Contents
The File object can be used to upload various file types and make them available to users.
It enables the management and updating of files across multiple versions.
The “External Content” object allows you to access external content, e.g. both within and outside ILIAS.
You can also enter further details, such as passwords required to access content, under Settings.
The glossary is used to collect and manage terms and their definitions. Users can add terms and leave comments to build a shared body of knowledge.
Flashcard training allows you to practise and test your knowledge of a term by starting with its definition.
A content page is a single page on which text, images and media objects can be displayed.
It is used to display information within a course or folder.
The learning module brings together multimedia learning units in a structured way.
It is well suited to creating structured learning pathways with a variety of content formats.
Learning modules are available within ILIAS, either embedded via HTML or via SCORM.

The learning sequence organises the learning content into defined steps that are to be worked through in sequence.

A bibliography compiles and presents references and source citations for users.

In the chat room, users can communicate via text in real time.

The data collection tool is a tool for the structured collection, management and analysis of data.
Users can create their own entries and summarise the results.
Etherpad is a collaborative text editor that enables real-time co-authoring.
It is ideal for group work and quickly taking minutes.
The forum is a platform for asynchronous discussions and the exchange of views.
Users can create posts, reply to them and organise discussions.
A group is an organisational unit that brings users together.
It makes it easier to work together and access resources within the group.
The wiki is a collaborative reference work.
Users can create, edit and link content to document knowledge collaboratively.

The booking pool organises resources or appointments for booking.
Users can reserve and manage available slots.
Favourites allow users to save frequently used items individually.

Categories are used to organise and structure content and objects by topic.
They provide a clearer overview and make it easier to organise things.
Category links point to categories and make them visible in various places.
They help with navigation and linking.
The course is a container object for organising learning content and participants.
It forms the basis for designing courses in ILIAS.
Courses from an administrative perspective
This link points to courses or groups and can make them accessible in various locations.
It offers flexible networking within ILIAS.
An object block visually groups various ILIAS objects on a page.
It helps to organise and arrange content in a clear and structured way.
The folder is used to collect and organise a wide variety of content in a structured manner.
It enables the hierarchical management of learning materials.
The meeting is a scheduled event with a set agenda.
It can be used for meetings, seminars or other events.

Voting allows opinions or decisions to be gathered digitally.
Users can choose from a range of options.
LiveVoting enables interactive real-time voting during events.
