The International Office is the indispensable contact point for all those at HSBI who are enthusiastic about international exchange. The team provides advice and support to students, teaching staff and employees when it comes to undertaking the adventure of staying abroad. Whether in the context of studying or doing an internship abroad, a teaching visit or further training abroad – our department supports you in organising and financing your stay.
In addition, the department is responsible for the admission and enrolment of international students, supports the faculties in initiating and maintaining partnerships worldwide and networks at European university level. Additional services such as the Language Center, a Welcome Center for international researchers at HSBI and a central translation service round off the service offer. A third-party funded offer for refugees with an academic interest, which includes, but is not limited to German and preparatory courses are also coordinated by the International Office.
In order to promote “Internationalisation@home,” the department regularly organises events to which the university public is cordially invited, such as the popular International Week, which usually takes place in May. Here, teaching staff and researchers from HSBI invite international colleagues from research, teaching and practice to all university locations to participate in courses, research activities and workshops for one week.
All of the International Office’s activities serve to implement the International Strategy. It aims to foster a global perspective in all areas of the university, strengthen international activities and make HSBI an important player in the international educational landscape. The Campus OWL liaison office in New York, which is jointly operated by HSBI and other universities in the region, also plays an important role in this. The office serves as a contact point for students, graduates, researchers and companies and promotes cooperation between the universities and the business community in East Westphalia-Lippe and North America.
