Mandatory language skills - Students

In accordance with the agreement with our institution, the sending institution is responsible for providing support to its nominated candidates so that they have the recommended language skills at the start of the study or teaching period. Part of the application process for incoming students is an official document that serves as proof of the required language skills:

Please note: Courses taught at Bielefeld School of Business cannot be combined with courses taught at the Faculty of Engineering and Mathematics. For other faculties, combinations may be possible, but need to be agreed case-by-case. If a student is interested in a particular course outside their respective faculty, please let us know and we will ask the faculty.

Note on students and staff with special needs: Hochschule Bielefeld – University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSBI) is prepared to welcome students or staff with visual or hearing impairment. Furthermore, many of our facilities are fully accessible. However, a few of the buildings are not accessible for students or staff with serious physical impairments (esp. people with impaired mobility or wheelchair users). We will try our best to accommodate any special needs – please contact us to discuss this further if necessary.

Documents - Transcript of Records

A Transcript of Records will be issued 6 weeks after the publication of grades at our institution.

Documents - Certificate of Stay

The Certificate of Stay from the home university will be signed by the International Office
after the student’s stay.

Accomodation

Our institution supports international students/staff in finding accommodation, according to the requirements of the Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education. It offers allocated places in student residences and informs about private accommodation offers, as there are not enough places in student residences.

Cost of Living

The cost of living is around EUR800–900 (for accommodation, meals, books, trips etc). In addition, approx. EUR320 must be paid for the semester contribution before enrolment. This contribution includes a ticket for free public transport on local and regional trains/buses in Germany for the whole semester, i.e., six months.

Visa

If required, our institution will provide assistance in securing visas for incoming and outgoing students/staff, according to the requirements of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education. Information and assistance can be provided by contact person for incoming and international students.

Insurance

Our institutions will provide assistance in obtaining insurance for incoming and outgoing students/staff, according to the requirements of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education.

We will inform incoming students of cases in which they are not automatically covered by their existing insurance.
