What will I earn at HSBI?

Depending on the position, you will be paid a state salary for civil servants (e.g. W-Besoldung) or according to the Collective Agreement of the German Federal States (TV-L). In addition, we offer a pension scheme and capital-forming benefits.

Which questions you will be asked depends upon the position you have applied for, of course. In general, we would like to get to know you and your reasons for applying for a job at our university. What is your motivation? What experience do you bring? How do you picture your work at the university?

Which benefits are there for employees at HSBI?

Our employees benefit from a number of services in different areas. Opportunities for mobile work, research support, continuing education, health services or childcare: look forward to many benefits at HSBI.

Will my position be permanent?

This will depend on the position for which you apply. Many positions offered for academic staff or Postdocs are fixed-term. They are often financed through third-party funding projects for a limited period of time. Positions in the technical and administrative departments are often permanent. If you become a professor at HSBI, you will become an established civil servant or get a permanent position after the one-year probationary period (temporary civil servant) has ended. Please see the respective job advertisement to find out whether the position is fixed-term or permanent.

What does the East Westphalia-Lippe region have to offer?

We can safely say that is has more to offer than many people think! East Westphalia-Lippe (OWL for short) is green and urban at the same time. With its many sports and leisure opportunities, it offers a high quality of life. OWL is also home to a vibrant entrepreneurial environment and to many renowned companies with which HSBI has been collaborating for many years. With our three locations in Bielefeld, Minden and Gütersloh we are in the thick of things. Maybe you will soon be, too?

I do not live in the region. Do I have to move for a job at HSBI?

We will be happy if you move your residence to our region. In general, we try to make individual work models that fit your needs possible. Depending on the job, however, it may be required that you work on site at one of our locations in Bielefeld, Gütersloh or Minden. Would you like to apply, but you still have questions? Can I work from home?

We want you to be able to balance your work with your individual needs and duties. That is why at HSBI, mobile work outside the university is possible in many areas in coordination with your supervisor and within the framework of our collective agreement for mobile work. Depending on the job, however, it may be required that you work on site. Please contact us if you have any questions about that.
