A thought-provoking historical coincidence is this: between 1924 and 1926, quantum mechanics accomplished the miraculous transition from the old quantum era to the establishment of a complete quantum theoretical system in just three years. Exactly a century later, from 2024 to 2026, we are witnessing equally astonishing rapid progress in the field of artificial intelligence.
These two “miracle three-year periods” share profound parallels:
- 1924–1926: A revolution in scientific paradigm — a cognitive leap from classical physics to quantum physics
- 2024–2026: A revolution in the work paradigm — a productivity leap from human intelligence to human-machine collaboration
This talk will systematically compare the historical processes, core characteristics, and social impacts of these two revolutions, explore the fundamental patterns of paradigm shifts, and look ahead to the profound transformations that await human society over the next decade.
Dr. Yue Zhang is an Associate Professor of Mathematics and Physics at Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, where he also serves as the Head of fundamental sciences department. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China, followed by master’s and doctoral studies in Condensed Matter Theory at the University of Utah. He completed postdoctoral research at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany as a recipient of the Humboldt Research Fellowship. His primary research focuses on spintronics, disorder systems, topological insulators, and the properties of low-dimensional materials with novel band structures. In recent years, alongside his physics research, he has been actively engaged in science education initiatives and dedicated to exploring the role of AI in education.
