Health systems worldwide are facing ageing populations, an increase in chronic diseases, shortages in the healthcare workforce, and growing demand for primary care services. Climate risks and public health crises also require stronger prevention measures, community-based care and resilient systems. In many countries, nurses — including community health nurses, public health nurses, and advanced nurse practitioners — play a key role in primary care, prevention, and the management of complex patients in community and hospital settings. In Germany, these roles are being discussed, but have not yet been systematically integrated. This workshop offers valuable insights, with experts describing how advanced nursing roles have developed within health systems. The event combines presentations with discussions to encourage reflection and exchange on resilient, sustainable healthcare.
