Entrepreneurship is widely recognised as a driver of economic growth and innovation. This session introduces key concepts underpinning the entrepreneurial mindset and provides a structured framework for opportunity identification and venture development. Students engage with core entrepreneurial traits - including risk tolerance, creativity, and resilience - and reflect on their own profiles. Grounded in the seven-step entrepreneurial process, the session offers a systematic approach from opportunity recognition to implementation. It also considers the risks and trade-offs inherent in entrepreneurial activity. Through the application of relevant frameworks, students develop the analytical capacity to assess and pursue viable business opportunities.

Sarah Muigai, PhD, is Associate Director Faculty Recruitment and Development and Lecturer at the Strathmore University Business School, Nairobi, Kenya
