Health systems worldwide are navigating the dual pressures of demographic change and rapid technological advancement. The responsible and effective implementation of AI in healthcare has never been more urgent — or more promising. The symposium brings together international experts from Singapore's pioneering approaches to AI in clinical practice, to outcome evaluation best practices applied in Australia, to local validation studies conducted in Bielefeld.

A goal of this symposium is to engage with the real-world challenges of AI adoption: How do we measure what truly matters? What is the economic impact of digital health solutions? And what are the barriers for the implementation in practice?

Dr. Chong-Han Kua is an educator and researcher at Republic Polytechnic, Singapore, and a board- certified geriatric pharmacist. He holds a pharmacy degree from the National University of Singapore, a Master of Clinical Pharmacy from the University of South Australia, and a PhD from Monash University. His research spans gerontology, medication use, and digital health, and he has collaborated with academic partners across Malaysia, Korea, and Australia within the Asia-Pacific region. He is currently leading a digitalization project funded by Singapore’s Ministry of Education Translational R&D Innovation Fund, with the goal of enhancing clinical outcomes and healthcare delivery through innovation.

Prof. Dr. Kreshnik Hoti studied at Curtin University and is a registered pharmacist with a Ph.D. in Pharmacy. He is the recipient of competitive funding from Alzheimer’s Australia and one of the co-inventors of the ePAT tool (formerly PainChek). He was a Fulbright Scholar at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT in Cambridge, USA and worked on the application of artificial intelligence to medication safety. Prof. Dr. Kreshnik Hoti is currently a professor of pharmacy Faculty of Medicine at the University of Pristina. He has numerous peer-reviewed journals including Nature Medicine and Lancet Digital Health.
