HSBI is very much committed to continuously improving the quality of teaching and studies. Surveying our graduates has been an integral part of HSBI’s comprehensive quality management and evaluation concept, which we use to assess and improve the quality of studies, the overall learning environment and our consulting services.
HSBI’s graduate survey has been conducted since 2012 as part of the graduate studies collaboration project “Kooperationsprojekt Absolventenstudien (KOAB)”. Besides HSBI, many other universities in Germany are involved.
KOAB’s objective is to make a significant contribution to shaping quality development in university education. Besides analysing students’ course progress and professional careers, the project is also about analysing the impact of course offers and study conditions on graduates’ future lives and professional success.
The survey focuses primarily on the following topics:
- Programme organisation
- Retrospective assessment of course offers and study conditions
- (Self-assessed) skills upon graduation
- Job seeking
- Quality of employment
- Competency requirements
- Job satisfaction
- Local and international mobility
The information obtained are an important indicator of the quality of university education. They are used for structural and curricular measures aimed at reforming the university, as well as for the accreditation of our course offer.
The survey is conducted by means of an online questionnaire about a year and a half after graduation. In the 15th wave of the survey, taking place in the autumn and winter of 2026, all graduates from the 2025 graduating year (that is in the winter semester of 2024/25 or the summer semester of 2025) will be contacted and invited to participate in the graduate survey. Participation in the survey is possible until February 15, 2027. The questionnaire can be completed in either German or English.
The survey is conducted in compliance with data protection regulations and in close coordination with our Data Protection Officer. Detailed information regarding data protection can be found here.
