Hochschule Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts
Registration for a module examination can be withdrawn without stating any reasons up until the end of the eighth day before the set examination date and without taking into account the number of possible examination attempts. After this deadline, withdrawal is only possible for important reasons.
Please note: For study programmes in which examination registration is automatic, it is possible to cancel the registration solely under the conditions specified in the relevant Study Programme Examination Regulations.
The reasons for withdrawal must be reported immediately to the Registrar’s and Examination Office and substantiated by appropriate proof.
If the important reason is acute sickness, a medical certificate of the incapacity to take examinations must be presented immediately. Please submit the request online.
Alternatively, please use the request form for withdrawal due to sickness (see the download area) and observe the information contained in it.
For the period of the incapacity to take examinations certified by your doctor, your registration for all pending examinations will be cancelled. Please indicate all affected examinations in the form. If your sickness ends earlier than specified in the doctor’s certificate, you must notify the Registrar’s and Examination Office by e-mail at least two working days before the respective examination date.
Stricter requirements apply if you withdraw from an examination after you have started sitting it. The certificate must include an explanation why the sickness only occurred during the examination and why this was not foreseeable for the examinee.
As a rule, the incapacity to take an examination must be certified by a doctor on the day of the examination at the latest. This may mean that you need to see your doctor on the day of the examination. If you cannot see your doctor on the day of the examination, e.g. for health reasons, the doctor must explain these reasons (see no. 3 in the form).
The Registrar’s and Examination Office must receive the certificates no later than four working days (this includes all days of the week except for Sundays and public holidays) after the examination. It is sufficient to send a scanned version of the documents by e-mail first. Since we can request the original documents, you are obliged to keep them until the end of your studies. Special reasons for late submission (e.g. hospitalisation) must be substantiated by appropriate certificates.
If the withdrawal is approved, the registration in question will be deleted and the examination attempt will not count towards the number of possible examination attempts.
