Graduates:
- They have profound knowledge in the areas of product development, product development, design and sustainable product development and are able to analyze and explain them in a differentiated manner.
- Are able to reflect current ecological, social and economic challenges of sustainable product development.
- Are able to apply and develop various methods and models of sustainable product development. They have in-depth knowledge of the company’s internal and external framework conditions in which sustainable product development takes place, and can competently lead both specific and interdisciplinary discussions.
- Are able to provide scientific specificities of sustainable product development in terms of, for example, Digital and technical solutions (e.g. AI and the Internet of Things) and can propose well-founded adaptations of standard methods.
- Can measure sustainability in product development using suitable methods and, in particular, also assess the consequences of technology development.
- Can apply what has been learned to specific case studies from operational practice in a targeted manner and critically reflect on them.

- Materials and material cycles of a circular economy
- Management, methods, processes and instruments for the development of products, technologies, designs and processes (VDI 2220)
- Introduction to Product Development and Product Development (VDI 2221)
- Sustainable development of digital solutions and technologies, design methodology, simulation techniques / CAx, digital twin
- Methods of measuring the sustainability of products, life cycle assessment, CO2 footprint, resource consumption, technology impact assessment
- Current developments and case studies of sustainable product development
